Irene Kung, a skilled painter, aims to captivate viewers, spark their imagination, and narrate tales through her art. In her Timeless Machine collection, she harmoniously blends a flawlessly designed automobile, the iconic Porsche 911, with enduring art. The car appears in surprising settings, such as amidst snow-capped peaks or nestled among New York City's towering skyscrapers. Kung's expressive photographs almost resemble paintings. She draws inspiration from Renaissance frescoes, particularly the use of light by masters like Piero della Francesca, Titian, and Caravaggio. 'I've adapted the methods of the old masters to photography,' Kung explains. The artist employs multiple layers, emphasizes specific areas, and even digitally 'paints' over sections during post-processing. 'In my mind, I'm still a painter, but I wield my camera like a brush.'
